Epic Flights Proximity Project Print E-mail
Written by Dominik Loyen

Low Pass To all qualified Wingsuit BASE jumpers, After 11 months the city of Grindelwald, Switzerland finally approved the "Epic flights proximity project" to take place over the Eiger to Grindelwald on Sept 25th, - 27th, 2010. The lines are 7 to 9 kilometers long and yield a 3,000 meter vertical differential allowing for flights in excess of 2.5 minutes. Hence EPIC!

The "Epic Flights Proximity Project" was conceived by Dominik Loyen and Jokke Sommer when they discovered a line of flight over the Eiger in Switzerland. Using wingsuits & BASE specific parachuting gear one exits a helicopter and descends from 4,000 Meters altitude, propelled by gravity and deflection of air. A forward speed of 180 Km/h is achieved by an aerodynamic body position that deflects the airflow and slows the descent t...o 60 Km/h yielding a glide ratio of 3:1. With a vertical delta of over 3,000m it is possible to cover a horizontal distance of 9,000m+.

First line of flight: Northface Eiger to Grindelwald

The Line of flight starts at the peak o f the Eiger at 4,000 Meters MSL (12,500 feet) and runs down the north side of the east ridge, a sweeping left turn of 90 degrees and ends ends in Grindelwald, Switzerland at 1,050 Meters MSL. Vertical decent is 3,000 Meters (10,000 feet) The Horizontal distance covered is 7,000 Meters which requires a glide ratio of at least 2.5 : 1. Approx. flying time: 2 minutes 30 seconds +

Second line for qualifying pilots: Eiger Glacier (south) via East Ridge to Grindelwald

The Line of flight startsat the peak o f the Eiger at 4,000 Meters MSL (12,500 feet) and runs down the south side of the east ridge over a glacier, through a V-crack, a sweeping left turn of 115 degrees and ends ends in Grindelwald, Switzerland at 1,050 Meters MSL. Vertical decent is 3,200 Meters (10,500 feet) The Horizontal distance covered is 9,000 Meters which requires a glide ratio of approx 3:1. Approx. flying time: 3 minutes +

Is there great RM converter having compatibility with Archos?
Jan 05 2012 18:24:38
empty"/nnI am trying to transfer rm and rmvb video files for the Archos. I made use of rm video converter however the avi files do not operate the videos swimmingly. The movie playback is dull.
The video is good however Archos can't quick forward or if I could fast forward, the video player gets stuck and can't operate from the new spot.
Is anyone can introduce an rm converting software which creates avi's which play perfectly on the Arhcos? The converter should be able to handle input movies to an Archos compatible screen size.
